Prečo má octopus tri srdca? Evolučná adaptácia k unikátnej fyziológii

Presťahovanie troch srdcí u octopusa nie je čudou prírody, ale výsledkom hlubokej evolučnej adaptácie, priamo súvisiacej s osobnosťami jeho krvného obtekania a spôsobu života. Táto unikátna kardiologická konfigurácia predstavuje veľmi efektívne riešenie problému s obstarávaním kyslíkom veľkého a veľmi aktívneho organizmu, ktorý má veľa špecifických anatómičných znakov. Aby sme pochopili funkčné znamenie tejto sústavy, je potrebné zvážiť sestavu a úlohu každého srdca v kontexte celkovej fyziológie hlavonožce.

Medzináhľadová krv a jej následky pre krvný obtekanie

Podstatnou príčinou, ktorá spôsobila vývoj troch srdcí, je typ dýchacieho pigmentu v krvi octopusa. Na rozdiel od savcov, ktorých krv využíva železosťavý hemoglobin, krv octopusa a iných hlavonožcov je založená na hemocyaníne, kde medzi nositeľmi kyslíka je med. Hemocyanín je výrazne menej efektívny v väzbe a preprave kyslíka ako hemoglobin. Keď sa táto krv stretne s vzduchom, získava typický modrasý odtieň. Aby sa kompenzovala táto relatívna neefektívnosť, octopusi je potrebná viac mohutná a špecializovaná krvná sústava, schopná vytvárať vysoké tlaky pre rýchlu dodávanie kyslíka do tkanív.

Žaberné srdca: špecializované čerpadlá pre efektívny plynový výmen

Twore z troch srdcí, známe ako žaberné srdca (alebo branchial hearts), vykonávajú úlohu prvého stupňa čerpadla. Sú umiestnené na základe každých dvoch žab. Hlavná funkcia týchto srdcí je prijímať venóznu krv, bohatú na oxid uhličitý, od celého tela a s silou ju protlačiť cez husté kapilárne sieti žab. Tento proces je kriticky dôležitý, pretože odpor v tenkých žaberných sietiach je veľký. Bez týchto špecializovaných čerpadiel by hlavné srdce nedokázalo vykonať náročnosť, a krvný tok cez žabry by bol nedostatočný pre plnohodnotné kyslíkovanie krvi. Takže žaberné srdca zabezpečujú efektívny plynový výmen, pripravujúc krv pre ďalší stupeň.

Systémové srdce: centrálne rozdeľovacie čerpadlo

Tretie srdce, známe ako systémové (alebo main heart), je umiestnené v strednej časti tela, v manžetovej polosti. Užíva od žab bohatú na kyslík arteriálnu krv a viede ju k všetkým orgánom a tkanivom tela, okrem samotných žab. Prave toto srdce je hlavným motorom krvného obtekania, zabezpečujúc živinami a kyslíkom složitý mozog octopusa, jeho svalnaté ramená a vnútorné orgány. Avšak táto sústava má slabé miesto: systémové srdce prestane fungovať, keď octopus začína plávať. To je súvisiace s vysokými energetickými náročnosťami na plávanie — organizmus dočasne preorientuje zdroje a krvný tok je v tomto čase zabezpečovaný predovšetkým žabernými srdcami.

Funkčná integrácia a adaptácia k spôsobu života

Trietisrdcová sústava ukazuje na úžasnú synchronizáciu. Všetky tri srdca pracujú koordinovaným spôsobom, zabezpečujúc neprerušený a mohutný krvný tok, potrebný pre udržanie vysokej aktivity octopusa — dravca, ktorý sa spolihá na
